Official STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Poster Debuts; New Trailer Airs During MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters in two months — and Lucasfilm is about to crack open the mystery box surrounding the film. The studio debuted the official poster for The Force Awakens and announced that the full trailer will air during Monday Night Football on, well, Monday.

Unlike the posters for the prequel trilogy and the special editions, artist Drew Struzan didn't create the poster for The Force Awakens. It looks like the poster team at Disney (probably the same crew doing the posters for the Marvel Cinematic Universe) did its best to mimic Struzan's poster style their own way. If you take a look at the six previous official Star Wars posters the artist did, you an see that the Force Awakens poster at least looks like it belongs.

The new poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens appears to be our first look at Lupita Nyong'o's character, Maz Katana. She's the tiny alien next to R2-D2. We also have the first image of Starkiller Base, the planet-turned-superweapon yielded by the First Order.

A lot of people online are wondering why Luke Skywalker isn't featured on this poster. I'm not going to drop that spoiler alert here, but the tiniest bit of Googling or a visit to MakingStarWars.net will answer that question.
