ERHMAGERD. They's Making a 'Goosebumps' Movie

If you were a kid in the 1990s and you knew how to read (and let's be honest, you went to school with kids who never mastered that skill), you probably read one or two or all of the Goosebumps books. Written by R.L. Stine (a probably a team of ghostwriters*), the Goosebumps books scared kids on a monthly basis while spawning a massive merchandising franchise at the same time. Clothing, a TV series, even pogs — if you were making a time capsule of the 1990s, Goosebumps would definitely be a part of it.

Like those dummies who just wouldn't die, Goosebumps appeared to be on the verge of rising from the dead to haunt a new generation of kids. On Tuesday, Deadline reported that Sony Pictures was in talks with Rob Letterman to direct a Goosebumps movie. Letterman has previously directed Shark Tale, Monsters vs. Aliens and Gulliver's Travels, so I'll let you decide on your own whether Sony's pick to helm the Goosebumps revival is a smart choice or not. (It's probably not.)

With the majority of Letterman's work focusing on animation, I'm curious to see if we'll get a CGI Goosebumps film or something more in the vein of the live-action TV series.

*But not that Ghostwriter. Where's that movie adaption?
