Porkchop Sandwiches! Jon M. Chu Returning to Direct 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' Sequel
After pretty much rescuing the G.I. Joe movie franchise from the disaster that was Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, it's no surprise that director Jon M. Chu is on the verge of returning to direct the sequel to G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
The director took a franchise that showed very little respect for the source material (OK, so we're talking about toys and cartoons that sold toys here, but still ...) and had to write out its original star (Channing Tatum) and gave the world a movie that, while still all kinds of ridiculous, was well-received by G.I. Joe fans. Deadline reports that Chu and Paramount are in talks to bring the director back for another installment.
While the third G.I. Joe movie is still in the very early stages, what could Chu add to this one to further up the stakes? The franchise already has Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis. Does Tatum return? What other big names join the team?
