TRAILER: Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford Storm D.C. in 'Captain America: The Winter Solider'
The first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier hit the Internet today, giving fans our first chance to see Chris Evans' Captain America going (kind of) solo in modern-day America. The film has been billed as a political thriller, and it's easy to see why. It appears that much of the film takes place in Washington, D.C., as Cap struggles to accept SHIELD's worldview.
Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson are back as Natasha Romanoff and Nick Fury, turning Captain America: The Winter Solider into a SHIELD film. While I'm incredibly excited to see this version of a SHIELD film, I do worry that it'll further dilute ABC's Agents of SHIELD. I mean, once we've seen a big-screen SHIELD movie, won't that marginalize a SHIELD TV show?
How great is it that Robert Redford is in a Marvel movie? He's a film legend, and he's talking to Captain America. Love that final scene of the trailer too. If you know the story of the Winter Soldier, you know what I'm talking about.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Evans, Johansson, Jackson, Redford, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo and Hayley Atwell. It opens on April 4, 2014.
