'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' Gets Seven New Character Posters

When you take a book that's roughly 300 pages and expand it into three motion pictures, you've pretty much blown up any boundaries of overkill. This is why it's not shocking that while most movies would be content with a poster or two, Warner Bros. debuted seven new character posters for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on Sunday.

Yes. Seven new posters.

We've already shown you the official poster for the second movie in The Hobbit trilogy, and we've brought you a few banner posters too. At this point, what's seven more posters, right?

The new series of character posters featuring Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins), Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel), Luke Evans (Bard) and Lee Pace (Thranduil).

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on Dec. 13.
