Logo for 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' Unveiled
Jimmy Fallon's move to The Tonight Show already had a debut date and now it has a logo. The first look at the next era of The Tonight Show was unveiled through Fallon's Twitter account on Wednesday.
A couple of thoughts about the new logo ...
I think the new Tonight Show wordmark loses some of the personality that Fallon's Late Night logo has. It is completely different from Jay Leno's Tonight Show logo, but it's not quite as fun as the current Late Night one.
I'm curious why they went with a moon background for the new logo. While both Leno and Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show logos used a crescent moon, the new logo for the Fallon era is a full moon. You know who else uses a full moon on his late-night show? O'Brien. There's a giant full moon that hangs over his Conan set.
The new Tonight Show logo does strike a different tone from the logo for Seth Meyers upcoming takeover of Late Night. The new Late Night logo reminds me more of Weekend Update and Saturday Night Live than it does either Fallon's current or new logo.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon premieres on Feb. 17. 2014.
