Next 'Planet of the Apes' Sequel Coming July 2016

Fox must be seeing some really spectacular things from its upcoming summer 2014 movies, as the studio is already locking in dates for sequels to these flicks, announcing on Tuesday that the next Planet of the Apes sequel will open on July 29, 2016.

News broke last week that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves would also helm the untitled Planet of the Apes sequel, and now he has a target to hit. While a two year span between franchise installments might be on the shorter side, it's the same window that Bryan Singer is (probably) working with from X-Men: Days of Future Past to X-Men: Apocalypse.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 11.
