Does the Sun Come Out in First Trailer for 'Annie' Remake?

The first trailer for the upcoming Annie remake hit the Internet on Wednesday. The movie is directed by Easy A and Friends With Benefits' Will Gluck and lists both Will Smith and Jay Z as executive producers.

The good news? The movie thankfully doesn't star a Smith offspring, despite his best attempts to make that happen. Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis seems to be a pretty good fit for the role of Annie. I didn't know she could sing, but it appears we'll hear her belt out a few Annie songs. Jamie Foxx seems to be taking a measured approach to Will Stacks, the remake's version of Daddy Warbucks.

The bad news? Cameron Diaz appears to be in a different movie than both Wallis and Foxx. It looks like Diaz is just going to overact and chew scenery the entire time. If this is the case, no matter how well made the rest of Annie is, Diaz is going to sink the movie.

Annie also stars Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The movie opens on Dec. 26.
