While Lucasfilm had originally announced that the trailer for The Force Awakens would be available in just 30 theaters, this move opens the first new Star Wars footage in a decade to all fans — not just the lucky few close enough to those theaters.
Was this the original plan or did Lucasfilm finally realize it was screwing over Star Wars fans? Thankfully we won't have to rely on shaky cellphone bootlegs now.
