CBS Pushes Back James Corden's LATE LATE SHOW Debut, Announces Reggie Watts as Bandleader
James Corden will make his The Late Late Show debut a few weeks later than originally expected. CBS announced on Friday that the first episode of Corden's The Late Late Show will air on March 23, 2015, instead of the previously announced March 9.
According to Variety, this will allow the network to use its March Madness basketball coverage to promote Corden's debut. NBC did the same thing with the launch of Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show debut.
CBS also rolled out a team of producers and writers for Corden's version of The Late Show: Rob Crabbe, a supervising producer at The Tonight Show; Mike Gibbons, co-creator of Tosh.0; Sheila Rogers, a supervising producer and talent coordinator on Late Show; and Josie Cliff. This team will join executive producer Ben Winston.
It was also revealed that comedian and musician Reggie Watts would be the new The Late Late Show bandleader. Watts previously opened for Conan O'Brien during his Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour. Watts also appears on the IFC television series Comedy Bang! Bang!
