KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE Sequel Is in the Works

Kingsman: The Secret Service stands as one of the surprise hits at the box office this year, taking in $36.2 million its opening weekend on the way to passing $400 million at the global box office. According to TheWrap, Fox wants to capitalize on that success and is working on a sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service.

No word yet on who from the first movie's cast will return for the sequel. Kingsman: The Secret Service starred Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine, but (SPOILER ALERT) not many of their characters made it out of the movie alive. Director Matthew Vaughn has a few projects on his plate, but his track record of working on projects based on Mark Millar books is pretty strong.

"If you think about it, this is the origin story of Eggsy. Eggsy is now the true modern gentleman spy," Vaughn told JoBlo in a February interview. "So there's a journey we want to put him on. I love the idea of there being none of that training crap, this is the real modern day gentleman spy going off to deal with quite the ... (stops himself) Again, there's some really crazy stuff we've got planned. But I can't do it if no one goes to see it."

I'm sure Fox would like to get a Kingsman sequel off the ground as quickly as possible, but the studio is going to have to wait for Vaughn and Egerton's schedules to clear up.
