Warner Bros. Announces New Release Dates for THE LEGO MOVIE SEQUEL, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE and NINJAGO
There was a ton of darkness (and no parents) in the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, but Warner Bros. is still building a universe around a lighter, more plastic-y take on Batman. The studio announced new release dates for the next three movies in the Lego Movie Universe on Monday.
The Lego Batman Movie will now open on Feb. 10, 2017, Ninjago on Sept. 22, 2017, and The Lego Movie Sequel on May 18, 2018.
"We are very excited about dating our upcoming LEGO animated features, which already have a worldwide fan following, built on the foundation of the first film," Warner Bros. President of Domestic Distribution Dan Fellman said in a statement. "These three films already in the pipeline are just the beginning of a creative and diverse animation slate that will be delighting audiences for years to come."
The studio has already assembled a team of director to helm two of these three movies. The Lego Movie co-director Chris McKay will take the reins of The Lego Batman Movie, and Rob Schrab will direct The Lego Movie Sequel. The Lego Movie director Phil Lord and Chris Miller will serve as executive producers on all of these movies.
Warner Bros. didn't include The Billion Brick Race in their announcement on Monday. The film is being developed and will be co-directed by Jason Segel and Drew Pearce.
