JURASSIC WORLD Moves to No. 4 All Time; TERMINATOR GENISYS and MAGIC MIKE XXL Fail to Live Up to Their Originals

Another weekend, another record for Jurassic World. The latest Jurassic Park installment continued its monstrous box office run by adding $30.9 million to its domestic total, bringing that haul to $558.1 million. Jurassic World is now the fourth highest grossing film in domestic box office history, passing The Dark Knight's total of $534.9 million.

Inside Out was a close second with $30.1 million. Pixar's latest still hasn't captured the top spot versus Jurassic World, but the movie moves up to No. 7 on the all-time Pixar box office list. By grossing $246.2 million over three weekends, Inside Out is in prime position to become just the third Pixar movie to break the $300 million barrier. The only two movies made by the studio to cross that mark so far have been Toy Story 3 ($415 million) and Finding Nemo ($339.7 million).

The weekend's new releases didn't fare so well when compared to their predecessors. Terminator Genisys premiered with hopes it could launch a new trilogy and a new start for the franchise. The movie opened to $28.7 million, which ranks as the worst opening weekend for a Terminator movie with the exception of the original's $4 million debut. The Terminator premiered in just 1,005 theaters. Despite being critically panned, the previous Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation, grossed $42.6 million in 2009.

Magic Mike XXL also failed to flex its box office muscles this weekend. While Magic Mike opened to $39.1 million, the sequel could only muster $11.6 million.
