Carrie Underwood Will Fight the Nazis (In a 'Sound of Music' Remake)

If you were hoping for an action movie starring Carrie Underwood fighting zombie Nazis, sorry to get your hopes up. Underwood will actually play Maria von Trapp in NBC's upcoming TV remake of The Sound of Music, according to a TVLine report.
[T]he “Before He Cheats” singer and five-time Grammy winner will headline the latest take on the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical that will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Smash, Chicago). The production is slated to air during the 2013 holiday season.
Yes, The Sound of Music was first a Broadway show, but I'd have to say that the 1965 film version starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer is what most people think of when they hear the title. The film won five Oscars, including Best Picture, after being nominated in 10 categories. Can Underwood, the former American Idol winner, match Andrews' version of Maria von Trapp?
