Rupert Wyatt Bails From Directing Channing Tatum's GAMBIT Movie
There's more trouble for Gambit. Channing Tatum's superhero movie lost its director on Wednesday, with Rupert Wyatt bailing from the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, either a script change or a scheduling move made it impossible for Wyatt to remain as director.
"I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project," Wyatt said in a statement. "I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film."
This is now two big franchises that Wyatt has left, previously ceding the rebooted Planet of the Apes series to Matt Reeves.
Gambit is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 7, 2016, so Fox is going to have to get the search going again for a director.
