American Film Institute Includes 'The Dark Knight Rises,' 'Zero Dark Thirty' and 'Lincoln' in Its Top 10 Films of 2012

While most of the critics groups release a full slate of honorees with winners in each category, the American Film Institute is content with just releasing a list of its top ten films for each year. With AFI releasing such list on Monday, we now have even more information to sift through while trying to figure out who'll get nominated for an Oscar.

AFI reinforced a lot of trends we've been seeing so far, with Zero Dark Thirty being one of the group's ten films. Amour wasn't included in this list, as the films are supposed to be American productions, which also explains why Skyfall wasn't considered. Isn't Les Miserables a British production, though? While Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises has failed to score at any of the other end-of-the-year awards, it did make AFI's top ten. Is there still hope for a Lord of the Rings: Return of the King-type nomination for The Dark Knight Rises?

AFI Movies of the Year: Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Dark Knight Rises, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty
