Work Resumes on 'Salt' Sequel for Angelina Jolie

While Salt didn't change the film world, the 2010 Angelina Jolie film was harmless fun and it made just short of of $300 million worldwide. Columbia Pictures tried to get a sequel going shortly after the movie was released, but the project stalled out. The studio has put a Salt sequel back into motion now, according to a Hollywood Reporter report, with Becky Johnston being hired to write the screenplay.

Johnston, who wrote The Price of Tides and Seven Years in Tibet, is now tasked with revamping a sequel premise that originally didn't appeal to Jolie. The Hollywood Reporter article reveals that while a script had been written for the sequel, Jolie wasn't happy with it and wouldn't sign on until the story had been reworked. When you're as big of a star as she is, you can make those calls. Besides Disney's Maleficent, the actress doesn't have any other roles on her docket.
