'Revenge' Star Emily VanCamp in Talks to Join 'Captain America' Sequel as Female Lead
Back in October, word got out that Marvel was looking at a handful of actresses to fill the female lead role in Captain America: The Winter Solider. The list included names like Alison Brie, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots and Jessica Brown Findlay (we were rooting for Brie), but it looks like Marvel moved on from that list when casting this role in the sequel to 2011's The First Avenger: Captain America. While the identity of the character has yet to be revealed, Revenge star Emily VanCamp is in now in talks for the role, according to a Deadline report.
If we had to guess, VanCamp will be playing Sharon Carter, the granddaughter of Peggy Carter. Hayley Atwell played Peggy in Captain America, but thanks to the whole "frozen in ice since World War II" thing, the Cap will need a new love interest in this sequel.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters on April 4, 2014, and stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Toby Jones and Samuel L. Jackson.
