Josh Brolin Breaks Free in First Poster for Spike Lee's 'Oldboy' Remake

Here's a film that has garnered a lot of buzz over the past few years. Oldboy, based on the South Korean film of the same name by Park Chan-wook, at one time piqued the interest of Steven Spielberg and Will Smith before settling for Spike Lee as its director and Josh Brolin as its star. Like the original movie, Oldboy tells the story of a man who is imprisoned for 20 years before suddenly being set free. The man soon realizes that despite being free, he's still entangled in some plot beyond himself.

In addition to Brolin, the new Oldboy stars Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson. I'm excited to see Olsen in a movie that's a bit more blockbuster than her previous work. She was amazing in Martha Marcy May Marlene and Liberal Arts, but Olsen is going to have to wow general audiences in a tentpole movie or two to make sure everyone knows who she is. Olsen is also in Gareth Edwards' Godzilla remake, so that's also a great step.

Oldboy hits theaters on Oct. 25. Head past the jump to check out the first poster for the film.
