Troy and Abed in Mourning? Donald Glover Will Appear in Only Five 'Community' Episodes Next Season

Just when things were looking good for Community, something had to go wrong. With Dan Harmon back as showrunner for the series' fifth season, fans were hopeful that Community would recapture the spark it once had. According to a Vulture report, Harmon will be without one of his stars for most of the season, with the website reporting that Donald Glover will appear in only five of Season 5's 13 episodes.

Vulture has learned that the actor's reps and Community producer Sony Pictures Television have worked out a new agreement that will see Glover appearing as Troy Barnes in just five of the show's upcoming thirteen episodes, according to sources familiar with the matter.

We heard rumblings last month that Glover was looking to leave Community in order to focus on his music career, but it's still surprising to hear that it actually happened. Glover, for the first three seasons at least, was such a huge part of Community. Harmon made Troy's journey a huge storyline in Season 3. After the shoddy level of storytelling that Glover had to put up with last season, though, it's not shocking to see him go.
