2015 EMMYS: HBO Dominates With Wins for GAME OF THRONES and VEEP; Jon Hamm Finally Triumphs
Modern Family's reign of terror is over. After winning the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for a record-tying five straight years, the ABC sitcom fell to Veep on Sunday night. Veep's win was part of a monster night for HBO, with the cable network scoring the top honor for drama series, comedy series and limited series, in addition to a bunch of acting and directing awards.
The 67th Emmy Awards represented a break from the dominance of network programming like The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. Cable and streaming networks dominated the night. I don't actually care what networks win at the Emmys, as long as long as quality programming and talent is winning. Jon Hamm, Amy Schumer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus — all better options than past winners like Jim Parsons and Jon Cryer.
The Emmys wrapped up with Tracy Morgan's return to television after his life-threatening car accident last year. The former Saturday Night Live actor presented the award for Outstanding Drama Series, even cracking a few jokes in the process.
Check out the winners at the 67th Primetime Emmys.
