CBS Planning 'How I Met Your Mother' Spinoff Called 'How I Met Your Father'
Ready for a legendary spinoff? According to a Deadline report, CBS is in talks with 20th Century Fox TV, How I Met Your Mother showrunners Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and Up All Night creator Emily Spivey for a HIMYM spinoff series called How I Met Your Father, which would take "a female spin on the original show."
While the Deadline story doesn't say that Cristin Milioti's The Mother character would be the focus of the show, fans of HIMYM have long hoped that we would get to see her side of the story. This could make that happen. Sorry if this article's picture is possibly misleading ...
From Deadline:
It would feature a new group of New York friends and chronicle a female member of the group’s quest to meet her future husband. I hear the new characters could be introduced in the HIMYM series finale, and Ted, Barney, Marshall, Lily and Robin’s favorite hangout, MacLaren’s Pub, may be featured on the new show, serving as a link between the two gangs. The premise, which is not tied to any of the original HIMYM characters, gives Bays, Thomas and Spivey a clean slate to build new characters and relationships.
Not tied to any of the original HIMYM characters? With the way the show has barely used Milioti's The Mother in its final season, I hope the team behind this spinoff considers making The Mother the main character in HIMYF.
