Kick Ass! Aaron Taylor-Johnson Closes Deal to Play Quicksilver in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has played a guy pretending to be a superhero. Now he's going to play an actual superhero. The Kick-Ass actor has closed a deal to play Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, according to a TheWrap report. Taylor-Johnson's name has been connected to the part in Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers for months, with the actor even openly talking about how he would interpret the role.
From TheWrap:
Now we just need official word that Elizabeth Olsen has closed her deal to play the Scarlet Witch. Samuel L. Jackson pretty much confirmed her participation in The Avengers: Age of Ultron a few weeks ago, but we need either Marvel or a major publication to tell us the casting is actually happening.
Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, also known as Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, will join the Avengers team in Whedon's sequel. In the comics, the duo are the son and daughter of X-Men foe Magneto, but with the way Marvel Studios and Fox have split up the comics, both studios will be allowed to use the Quicksilver character, but there will be no mention of Magneto or mutants in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Evan Peters will actually play Quicksilver in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, which got a, well, kick-ass trailer on Tuesday.
From TheWrap:
Taylor-Johnson didn’t close his deal until Wednesday, as the “Age of Ultron” shooting schedule overlaps with his upcoming publicity tour for Legendary’s “Godzilla” reboot. That potential obstacle has been overcome and his availability to properly promote that creature feature and shoot the “Avengers” sequel is now ensured.
