Hugh Jackman and James Mangold Working on 'The Wolverine' Sequel

Wolverine lives on. Deadline reports that Hugh Jackman and The Wolverine director James Mangold are working on another movie featuring the near-immortal character. According to Deadline, "Mangold is making a deal to write the treatment, with X-Men franchise matriarch Lauren Shuler Donner producing. The storyline is being kept under tight wraps."

Another film focusing on Wolverine would be Jackman's eighth time playing the mutant, starring in the original three X-Men movies, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, cameoing in X-Men: First Class, and starring in The Wolverine and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

I'm curious to see how another Wolverine movie would fit with what X-Men: Days of Future Past has planned for the X-Men universe. From the post-credits scene in The Wolverine, we know that Days of Future Past takes place immediately after The Wolverine.

Bryan Singer has alluded to using Days of Future Past to "fix shit," which probably means cleaning up the uglier X-Men installments, most likely X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: The Last Stand. Don't be surprised to see a post-credits scene in Days of Future Past featuring a certain red Oakleys-wearing mutant, so who know what kind of world Logan would be dealing with in another Wolverine movie.
