Gone Girl held on to the top spot at the box office for a second weekend, holding off a trio of newcomers. For director David Fincher, Gone Girl is a huge career achievement. The movie will likely become Fincher's all-time highest grossing movie at the domestic box office. That title is currently held by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at $127.5 million.

For Universal Pictures, Dracula Untold is the key to its monsters cinematic universe. While the bulk of the monster cinematic universe will take place in modern day, Dracula Untold kicked the entire potential megafranchise off.
