Warner Bros. Announces 10 Superhero Movies Including Two-Part 'Justice League' and 'Green Lantern' Reboot
Struggling to play catchup with Marvel Studios, Warner Bros. announced its slate of upcoming superhero movies on Wednesday. Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujiha unveiled ten films and the years they would hit theaters.
2016: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad
2017: Wonder Woman, Justice League: Part One
2018: The Flash, Aquaman
2019: Shazam, Justice League: Part Two
2020: Cyborg, Green Lantern
Based on the studio's previously announced slate of release dates, here's how the exact release dates for theses movies should shake out:
March 25, 2016: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Aug. 5, 2016: Suicide Squad
June 23, 2017: Wonder Woman
Nov. 17, 2017: Justice League: Part One
March 23, 2018: The Flash
July 27, 2018: Aquaman
April 5, 2019: Shazam
June 14, 2019: Justice League: Part Two
April 3, 2020: Cyborg
June 19, 2020: Green Lantern
The press release from Warner Bros. also mentions that there are Batman and Superman standalone films coming too, which aren't included in this release schedule yet. The studio confirmed the news that Jason Mamoa will play Aquaman and Ray Fisher will play Cyborg while also announcing that The Perks of Being a Wallflower's Ezra Miller will play the Flash. Zack Snyder will direct Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and both Justice League movies. David Ayer will direct Suicide Squad.
The announcement of these movies is nice but doesn't really mean much until Warner Bros. can prove it knows what its doing with Batman v Superman. Marvel Studios can make announcements like this and it matters because they've proven themselves with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
