Oscar Isaac to Play the Villain in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
When Apocalypse comes to the X-Men in 2016, he'll be played be Oscar Isaac. Variety reported on Monday that the actor will play the titular character in X-Men: Apocalypse, the sequel to this past summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Isaac is still an unknown to your average moviegoer, earning praise for movies like Drive and Inside Llewyn Davis, but he on the verge of becoming a household name thanks to having a role in next year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
We had heard that Fox was trying to get Tom Hardy to play Apocalypse. I wonder if Isaac's connection to Star Wars and X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg helped him land the role.
Bryan Singer will return to direct Apocalypse, with much of the Days of Future Past cast coming back too. Recent reports say that Singer is looking to add young versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops to the movie. Chloe Grace Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, Elle Fanning, Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet are supposedly in the running for those two roles.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27, 2016.
