WONDER WOMAN Finds Its Director

Game of Thrones director Michelle MacLaren will helm Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman movie, making good on the rumors that the studio wanted a female director to lead its premiere female superhero movie. MacLaren will not only director but also develop Wonder Woman, The Hollywood Reporter wrote on Monday.

Wonder Woman will star Gal Gadot, who will make her debut as the character in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gadot's first solo run with Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.

MacLaren has an impressive TV résumé, directing episodes of Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. Marvel Studios has found success picking television directors to helm its superhero movies, like Joe and Anthony Russo with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Alan Taylor with Thor: The Dark World. Warner Bros. is betting big that that MacLaren too can continue that trend.
