John Connor Is, Um, Different in the New TERMINATOR GENISYS Trailer

Wow. When the second trailer for Terminator Genisys hit the Internet on Monday morning, it gave away a huge plot point in the upcoming sequel. From the looks of this trailer, John Connor travels into the past ... and he's now a human-machine hybrid.



I've been on board with the concept behind Terminator Genisys. Instead of doing a straight sequel or reboot, director Alan Taylor crafted a film that would allow the original four Terminator movies to still exist while moving in a new direction with this movie. When a franchise is based around time travel, you have that freedom.

The John Connor twist in this new trailer reminds me a lot of what director McG originally wanted to do with Terminator Salvation. The big twist in that movie was going to be that John Connor died but his skin was grafted onto the Terminator played by Sam Worthington. That ending tested horribly, so it was scrapped. I'm surprised to see Terminator Genisys picking that kind of thread back up.
