Will X-MEN: APOCALYPSE End the Current X-MEN Franchise?

Will X-Men: Apocalypse end the current X-Men franchise? According to Latino-Review's Umberto Gonzalez, the upcoming movie will wrap up the X-Men continuity that Bryan Singer launched back in 2000.

This rumor sounds highly suspect.

Yes, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence have announced that they're ready to retire from the X-Men franchise. If you look at the casting work Singer has been doing, it's hard to come to the conclusion that Fox is ready to reboot the franchise. Singer has added Oscar Isaac, Olivia Munn, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Rose Byrne, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor and Ben Hardy for X-Men: Apocalypse.

At the same time, Fox has plans for an X-Force spinoff, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool movie and a Gambit standalone film starring Channing Tatum. The studio is ready to create its own cinematic universe.

The influx of young talent has led many to believe that this movie will wrap up the storyline kicked off by X-Men: First Class ... but also launch the next phase of X-Men storytelling at the same time. There's a good chance that Gonzalez misheard this news and extrapolated it into Fox rebooting things completely.
