James Bond Fights His Past in New SPECTRE Trailer

The James Bond films have always had a loose continuity. Plot points may be referenced from one film to a next, even crossing over the actors who have played 007, but it wasn't until the Daniel Craig era of the franchise that we really got a sense these films linked together. From the looks of the newly released trailer for Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, those links are much stronger than we ever guessed.

Spectre is a direct sequel to Skyfall, but from the way Christoph Waltz's Oberhauser (who based on that Nehru jacket has to be secretly playing Blofield, right?) taunts Bond in this trailer, this film may show that there was something bigger behind the events seen in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall. Hopefully Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes (again) changes his mind about returning to direct the next Bond film, as it's been rumored to be the one that will tie up the entire Craig era.

While the whole "James Bond has gone rogue from MI6" plotline has been played to death in the Craig Bond films, Spectre may be embracing the classic James Bond elements — cool cars, threatening henchmen, ridiculous chase scenes in all kinds of vehicles — more than its predecessors.

Spectre opens on Nov. 6. The movie stars Craig as James Bond, Waltz as Franz Oberhauser, Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Andrew Scott as Max Denbigh, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner and Jesper Christensen as Mr. White.
