MARK RUFFALO SMASH!

We're just a few days over a year away from getting the much-anticipated Avengers movie. On Monday, the film began production and director Joss Whedon gave the world its first look at a (very tiny) part of the movie. Today, MTV gave us a quick exchange with Mark Ruffalo, the new Hulk/Bruce Banner.

Personally I was a fan of the most recent Hulk movie. Edward Norton is a great actor and brought a very skilled interpretation of the Hulk to the screen. That, along with the fact that continuity should be key in the Marvel movie world, made me really want to see Norton acting along side of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and everyone else in The Avengers. Disagreements with the producers and the Marvel team made this impossible though, thus leading to Mark Ruffalo stepping in as Bruce Banner.

I'm eager to see how Ruffalo is in this movie as the Hulk. I thought he was the strongest actor in the Oscar-nominated The Kids Are All Right. He definitely seems psyched to be a part of The Avengers (anyone who gets excited over Hulk hands is cool with me). And through the few facts he's dropped about his role in The Avengers (the Hulk having a few lines, Ruffalo himself becoming the first actor to actually play the Hulk through motion capture), I think they're moving in the right direction.

The Avengers has the potential to be one of the biggest movies ever. So far, it doesn't look like the Hulk will be the one wrecking that possibility. (Insert Hulk smash reference here.)
