REPORT: Han Solo and Boba Fett Will Be Disney's First 'Star Wars' Standalone Movies

In yesterday's post about Disney/Lucasfilm confirming that standalone Star Wars films were happening, I gushed about how mind-blowing it was that not only were we getting a Sequel Trilogy, but that we were now also getting a bunch of other Star Wars movies. As of yesterday, who would be the focus of these standalone films was just a guessing game, but now Entertainment Weekly is reporting that it'll be Han Solo and Boba Fett who get their own movies.

EW reports that the Solo solo film will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, which gives Disney its first chance to introduce the concept of another actor playing a traditional Star Wars character. The Boba Fett standalone movie will either take place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back or between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Either way, EW is quick to point out that a certain Dark Lord of the Sith is alive during all of these times periods. Yup, while the jury is out on whether or not Darth Vader will be in the Sequel Trilogy, it looks like there's a very good chance he'll be in these standalone movies, which are set during the Original Trilogy timeframe.
