REPORT: Will Steve Carell Return as Michael Scott for 'The Office' Series Finale?

From pretty much the minute it was announced that this would be The Office's final season, everyone has wanted to know if former series star Steve Carell would be back for the finale. While the showrunners and Carell himself have sworn that we saw the last of Michael Scott two seasons ago, Popcutlurology has long believed that Carell would make an appearance in the final episode. In fact, we even caught Mindy Kaling, another former The Office castmember, possibly spilling the beans back in December.

On Monday, TVLine broke the news that Carell would indeed return for the May 16 series finale in a cameo role.

According to sources, Carell’s return engagement qualifies as more of a cameo than a full-fledged guest appearance. (It’s unclear if Carell will be joined by his Office soul mate Amy Ryan.)

From what I've read, part of The Office finale will focus on the Dunder-Mifflin staffers coming together to give their thoughts on the TV special about their lives, kind of like a Survivor finale. Could Michael Scott join his former coworkers via video feed?
