FX Renews 'Louie' for a Seven-Episode Fifth Season That Will Air in Spring 2015

The past season of Louie was either genius, crazy, both or neither. Louis CK's series can be one of the most polarizing comedies on TV. CK is one of — if not the — greatest comedian alive right now, but Louie's risk-taking edginess often leads to a show that isn't necessarily ha-ha funny.

Fans of Louie can rejoice at the news that FX has renewed Louie for a fifth season. Unfortunately, the next season will only be seven episodes long. It also won't air until late spring 2015.

"Louie's fourth season was once again groundbreaking. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking — always thought-provoking," FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said in a statement. "The show went to narrative and cinematic places no comedy has gone before and we look forward to seeing what Louis [CK] comes up with next."

The first three season of Louie had 13 episodes and the fourth season had a bonus 14th episode.
