Will It Be Han Solo Versus Boba Fett in Second STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY Movie?

From the moment we learned that Disney was going to start making standalone Star Wars movies, speculation has surrounded the idea that Han Solo and Boba Fett could be the centerpieces of those movies. There was a report was a report in May that the second Star Wars Anthology movie, due to hit theaters in 2018, would be a Boba Fett origin story. According to a Schmoes Knows report on Tuesday, Boba Fett won't be alone in that movie — he'll be paired up with Han Solo.

"My source is hearing the same thing: Han Solo and Boba Fett will be the focus of the second Star Wars Anthology film set for release in 2018," the Schmoes Knows report says. "What my source is stating is that it looks to be happening with some interesting additions. ... The source reports that the conflict between Fett and Solo that was only hinted at in the original trilogy (and seen countless times in the Expanded Universe) will finally be onscreen in a film taking place between Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope. Additionally, it's been mentioned that characters such as Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian and Bossk will make appearances throughout the film."

While the first Star Wars Anthology film, Rogue One, is already under production with Gareth Edwards at the helm and Felicity Jones leading the cast, the second Anthology movie hit a major bump last month when director Josh Trank quit the project. (Or was fired. Depends on who you ask.) When word got out that Boba Fett would be the focus on the film, Star Wars fans started rallying around Joe Johnston to take the helm. Johnston was the key influence in the character's development.

Schmoes Knows reports that Jon Faverau and Matthew Vaughn are in the mix to replace Trank. Both names have previously been in the Star Wars mix. Before Disney had announced that JJ Abrams would helm Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Favreau had summed up the possibility that he would direct a Star Wars movie with a "We'll see." Vaughn was also one of the earliest names to come up for Episode VII.

Jumping back to a Han Solo story that takes place before the original Star Wars movie would mean we'd see a new actor take on the iconic role. Are Star Wars fans ready to see someone besides Harrison Ford play the smuggler?
