'The Dark Knight Rises' Passes the $400M Milestone
On Friday, The Dark Knight Rises crossed the $400 million mark, becoming the fifteen film to accomplish that feat. The capper to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy reached this milestone in 29 days, the fourth fastest any film has ever reached $400 million domestically. The Avengers crossed that mark in 14 days, The Dark Knight in 18 days and Avatar in 23 days.
The Dark Knight Rises joins The Avengers and The Hunger Games as 2012 films that hit $400 million. Unless my research is wrong, this makes 2012 the first year to have three movies that made $400 million or more at the domestic box office. Prior to The Dark Knight Rises, 2012 was tied with 2009 at two entries, with 2009 having Avatar and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
I still think it's funny that people not only were rooting for The Dark Knight Rises to fail, but some outlets were actually writing articles as if it had failed at the box office. The Dark Knight Rises won't live up to the lofty box office standards set by The Dark Knight, but The Dark Knight Rises has still done very, very well at the box office.

I'm fine with TDKR's Box Office run. And having 3 400M movies in one year is amazing. Can we make it 4 with The Hobbit Part 1?
