Pixar Releases Two New Images from 'Monsters University'

By now, I probably sound like a broken record when it comes to my Monsters University posts. Pixar dropped the ball with Cars 2 and Brave. Pixar needs a critical home run. Can Monsters University be that home run? Blah, blah, blah. Now that we're all caught up, let's check out two new images from Monsters University that Pixar released through Entertainment Weekly.
In two new images from the Pixar prequel Monsters University (out June 21), we see the friendly green cyclops Mike Wazowski (voiced again by Billy Crystal) being held up in the air by his classmate and future Monsters, Inc. co-worker Sulley (voiced by John Goodman).
The other thing we learn about Mike is that even though he is quite spherical, he was also quite square back in the day. Here he is arriving at school on his first day, eye wide with delight and retainer twinkling on his nubby little teeth.
As I've said on numerous occasions, I love Monsters, Inc. It's one of my favorite Pixar films, and I think it was a crime that the Academy gave the first Oscar for Best Animated Feature to Shrek instead of Monsters, Inc. I can't wait to see what the geniuses at Pixar have cooked up for this prequel. Hopefully they recapture the Pixar magic.

Check out both full images after the jump.
