NBC Exec: 'Community' Season 4 Will Have 'a Little Bit More Heart' (Could Return for a Fifth Season)

While presenting to the Television Critic's Association on Sunday, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenplatt addressed Community's upcoming post-Dan Harmon season and discussed the potential of a fifth season for the show. If you didn't think that NBC had no idea what it has with Community before, Greenblatt's quote regarding Season 4 should drive that idea home. From The Hollywood Reporter:

"I don't know that I'm the Community expert, but I think you're going to see relatively the same show that you have seen before," he said. "There is a little bit more heart built in to it, but we didn't fundamentally change it."

"I don't know that I'm the Community expert." "There's a little bit more heart built into it." Screw you, NBC. Screw you. I don't even know where to start with this one. It's no secret that Greenblatt and the entire NBC management crew are the opposite of Community experts. The show has baffled them since it first aired. They've never had any idea how to promote it or nurture it. They fired show creator Harmon over the Internet. The fact that Greenblatt thinks Community could use "a little bit more heart" is astounding. Only a person who has never watched Community would think that it could use more heart. This explains so much.

So what does Greenblatt think about the possibility of a fifth season for Community? Will "a little bit more heart" earn the show another season?

"Yes, absolutely," he said when asked if the cult favorite but ratings underperformer could continue after its upcoming fourth season. "I'm always hopeful for a show to continue. We co-own it and I'd love nothing more than to see it continue."

This won't happen. There won't be a fifth season of Community. Stop pretending it's going to happen. I'm sure the show's cast is already working on their next move. We already know that Donald Glover is developing a show of his own with NBC. Community doesn't fit into NBC's vision of a future filled with multi-camera shows and laugh tracks. NBC, you're the AT&T of networks.
