Don Cheadle Dons the Red, White and Blue (Armor) in New 'Iron Man 3' Poster

In Iron Man 2, Don Cheadle played James "Rhodey" Rhodes, the character who snagged one of Tony Stark's old sets of armor, had the government weaponize the crap out of it and then become War Machine. Back in May, some Iron Man 3 set spy pics hit the Internet, giving us a look at a version of the Iron Man armor that had been painted up to look a lot like the Iron Patriot armor that Norman Osborn (also known as the Green Goblin) wore in the comics.

Marvel has made the decision to turn War Machine into the Iron Patriot, but as you can see thanks to a brand new Iron Man 3 poster, Osborn isn't the one inside the Iron Patriot armor in the upcoming movie.  I'm curious to see how Marvel justifies this switch. War Machine is a pretty well-known superhero in the comics, and the Iron Patriot is something completely different. We'll get the answer to this question on May 3, 2013, when Iron Man 3 hits theaters. Until then, you can check out the new poster after the jump.
