'Happy Endings' and 'New Girl' Unite! Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson to Star in 'Let's Be Cops'

When I first sat down to write this post, I asked myself, "What are the odds that I find a photo of Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson together?" Then I remembered that Wayans was in New Girl's pilot, having to drop out of the project when Happy Endings got a surprise second-season pickup.*

Anyways, there's a reason why I needed a picture of Wayans and Johnson together — the two have signed on to play friends who pretend to be cops in the appropriately titled Let's Be Cops. From Deadline:

The film is about two best friends looking for a little more out of life. They impersonate cops for kicks, but when they unknowingly mess with a real mobster, the game gets real.

Let's Be Cops will be directed by Luke Greenfield. Interestingly enough, Greenfield helmed The Girl Next Door, which starred Elisha Cuthbert, who now stars in Happy Endings alongside Wayans. Any chance Greenfield might want to bring his Girl Next Door star back for Let's Be Cops?

The movie doesn't yet have a release date.

*While I love Happy Endings, and I'm glad Wayans is a part of it, it really sucks that he dropped out of New Girl, a show that just got an early third-season pickup from Fox, to stay with Happy Endings, a show that ABC is actively trying to kill.
