James Bond Will Return Within 3 Years and His Next Director Will Be Announced Soon

After Skyfall rejuvenated the James Bond franchise by delivering arguably the most critically acclaimed Bond film and without a doubt the most financially successful Bond film, you would've thought production on Bond 24 would've pretty much started itself. While Daniel Craig has signed on for two more Bond films, Skyfall director Sam Mendes surprised a lot of people by stepping away from franchise despite MGM's hopes that he would stick around for another installment.

MGM Chairman and CEO Gary Barber told Reuters on Monday that fans should expect to see Bond return within the next three years, while also mentioning that a director for Bond 24 would be announced soon.

"We are very excited about the franchise, we look forward to announcing a director soon," Barber said. 

"We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released," Barber added.

Who will direct Bond 24? Based on the history of the franchise, expect a British director to step in for Mendes. Unless you're British (or maybe Australian), don't expect to helm a Bond movie. Sorry, Uwe Boll.
