Will 'Thor: The Dark World' Give Natalie Portman and Rene Russo Real Characters to Portray?

If there's one thing that superhero movies seem to have trouble getting right, it's writing realistic female characters. Joss Whedon made the Black Widow an interesting character in The Avengers, but she wasn't the star of the movie. I'm sure Warner Bros. is kicking itself for letting Whedon go to Marvel instead of making his Wonder Woman movie for them. The first Thor movie had both Natalie Portman and Rene Russo, but didn't really give the two talented actresses much to work with.

With hopes high that Thor: The Dark World will flesh out the Jane Foster and Frigga characters, Marvel released a new pic from the upcoming Thor sequel featuring Portman and Russo. The movie hits theaters on Nov. 8. Head past the jump to check it out.
