'South Park' Didn't Air Last Night, Missing Deadline for the First Time in the Show's History
South Park is an impressive piece of pop culture due to the show's ability to quickly turn current events into storylines. While many animated shows take months to produce an episode, Matt Parker and Trey Stone have long prided themselves on South Park's super-condensed production schedule. Episodes are written, animated and voiced just days (and hours) before airing.
Sadly, that production schedule came back to bite South Park this week. After going more than 16 seasons without ever missing deadline, South Park didn't air last night due to a power outage at South Park Studios, which kept Parker, Stone and their team from finishing Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers.
"It sucks to miss an airdate but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen," Parker said in a statement.
In place of a new episode, Comedy Central reaired Scott Tenorman Must Die, an episode that many South Park fans see as one of the series' best. Not a new episode, but still a nice consolation prize.
Goth Kids 3: Rise of the Posers will air next week. Here's a clip from the episode.
