Carrie Fisher Confirms That She'll Return as Princess Leia in 'Star Wars: Episode VII'
With some outlets reporting that Mark Hamill would reprise his role of Luke Skywalker and Harrison Ford his role of Han Solo for Star Wars: Episode VII, it was only a matter of time before we got a report that Carrie Fisher would bring Princess Leia back to the big screen. On Tuesday, we got an even more definitive confirmation that Fisher would be a part of Episode VII than just a report — the star herself revealed that she would be on board for the first installment of the Sequel Trilogy. From ComicBookMovie.com and Palm Beach Illustrated:
Well in an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated the actress finally just comes out with it:
Q: Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?"Yes." Well, there you have it. Personally, I hope Disney and JJ Abrams decimate the Expanded Universe with Episode VII. I get a laugh at everyone who thinks they should tailor the Sequel Trilogy to what the Expanded Universe has already created. That's not what you use a brand new Star Wars movie for.
A: Yes.
