GOOSEBUMPS Movie Release Date Bumped Up to Halloween 2015

When I was a kid, one of my birthday parties was followed up by watching the premiere of the first Goosebumps TV movie. It was the end of October, so this Goosebumps special had been perfectly timed with Halloween. Sony has finally figured out that's what it should do with the upcoming Goosebumps theatrical movie, shifting its release date from spring 2016 to Oct. 16, 2015.

The Goosebumps movie, which was originally scheduled to hit theaters on April 15, 2016, stars Jack Black as RL Stine himself. In the film, the author's creations come to life and run wild. The movie also stars Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Jillian Bell, Ryan Lee and Ken Marino. Stine has a cameo too.

From what director Rob Letterman has revealed, we'll be able to see Goosebumps favorites like Slappy the Dummy, the giant praying mantis from Shocker on Shock Street, the scarecrow from The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight and several other classic characters in the movie. Sadly, it sounds like monster blood and the haunted masks won't make the Goosebumps movie.
