JURASSIC WORLD Sequel Set for a May 2018 Release

Jurassic World is now the third-highest grossing movie in worldwide box office history, so it should come as no surprise that Universal Pictures announced that a sequel is coming on June 22, 2018.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return for the Jurassic World sequel. While Colin Trevorrow won't be back to direct (there's a rumor he'll be busy with a different franchise), he will return with Derek Connolly to write the movie's script.

Pratt's 2018 is shaping up to be a busy year. While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5, 2017, there's the chance Pratt's Star-Lord could appear in Avengers: Infinity War — Part I, which opens on May 4, 2018. Then there's The Lego Movie Sequel hitting theaters on May 18, 2018. We know that Pratt will be back to voice Emmet in that film.

It'll be interesting to see who Universal picks to succeed Trevorrow as the man at the helm of the Jurassic Park franchise. Trevorrow had only Safety Not Guaranteed on his directorial resumé before he landed the Jurassic World gig. Will Universal go with another relative unknown for the next Jurassic Park movie or will they pick an established director?
