CALLED IT: Carey Mulligan Is the Frontrunner to Play Hillary Clinton in 'Rodham'

Back at the beginning of January when news broke that screenwriter Young Il Kim's Rodham was going into production, Popculturology offered a list of five young and talented actresses who could possibly play the 26-year-old Hillary Clinton. One of the names on our list (a list that Kim called "great choices") was The Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan.

On Wednesday, The Hollywood Reporter validated Popculturology's early pick with a story that Mulligan was now the frontrunner to play Clinton.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the actress will have a sitdown with director James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) but sources say both sides are eager for it to work.
The past week saw a bunch of bogus rumors that Jessica Chastain or Reese Witherspoon were the favorites to play this Oscar-baity role. Not only did we not buy these rumors for a second, but neither did Chastain, who debunked the report herself. Mulligan is perfect for the Rodham role, and as long as a deal comes together, it looks like this prediction is going to come true.
