Is 'Parks and Rec' Star Rashida Jones the Female Lead Favorite for Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man'?

Is Ant-Man going to be an I Love You, Man reunion? If a pair of rumors surrounding the movie this week are right, we could see Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones reunited as Hank Pym and his girlfriend/future wife/The Wasp Janet Van Dyne.

On Monday, we got a rumor from Variety that Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were Marvel's favorites to play Ant-Man. Gordon-Levitt has been involved in a ton of superhero rumors — Batman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange — and the actor once again denied that he was in the running for the role. According to Superhero Movie News, Rudd has been Ant-Man director Edgar Wright's favorite for the role since November.

Late last year, I got a strange email from an anonymous source, I would tell you who it is, but my source has told me not to. So anyway, back to the source, I received an email in November of last year that read, “Edgar Wright plans to have Paul Rudd play Ant-Man.” That’s a legitimate quote from the email. Now, this was in November.

The rumor that Jones is Marvel's favorite for Ant-Man's female lead also comes from Superhero Movie News. According to the site's sources, Jones' already existing chemistry with Rudd thanks to I Love You, Man and with her Parks and Recreation co-star Chris Pratt (the lead in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy) has made her the studio's top pick.

The new rumour that is going around says, that The Wasp WON’T feature in Ant-Man, but Janet Van Dyne WILL. The source says, “Janet will be a love interest and a major supporting character, we would see multiple references to her future as The Wasp throughout the film.”

With Jones leaving Parks and Rec partway through the current season, she definitely has some free time on her hands. This role would guarantee her a franchise role with Ant-Man, its sequels and most likely future installments of The Avengers.

If Rudd and Jones do reunite for Ant-Man, is there anyway Marvel could get Jason Segel on board too?  Is there an iconic Ant-Man villain he could play? (My Ant-Man knowledge is very slim.)
