The Lego Minifigures Series Based on 'The Lego Movie' Is the Coolest Thing You'll See Today

One of the greatest revelations I ever had was that I can take some of the disposable income I make as an adult and use it to buy stuff I loved as a kid. Legos are one of those things. Sure it may be awkward to stand in the Lego aisle at Target, but the judgement of random strangers doesn't bother me.

Needless to say, I'm crazy excited about The Lego Movie. If you've seen the trailers and love Legos, you should be excited too. If you haven't seen the trailers and don't love Legos, we're not friends anymore.

Over the past few days, the Internet has started debuting the Lego sets that are based on The Lego Movie. Yes, Legos based on a movie based on Legos. The result? A ton of sets that look like the creations you and your siblings put together as kids. Mismatched pieces. Themes mixed together. Robotic pirates with sharks for hands. Awesome stuff.

Bricks and Bloks, one of the leading sites for Lego news, has been rolling out previews of sets from The Lego Movie. I want to share the look at Series 12 of Lego Minifigures with you. For a few years now, Lego has been issuing a new set of 16 minifigs made up of a random collection of characters. Series 12 will be the first to focus on one property. Thanks to the randomness of The Lego Movie, this series will retain the randomness of the first eleven collections.

Most of The Lego Movie's main characters are featured in this series. There's Chris Pratt's Emmet, Elizabeth Banks' Wyldstyle and Will Ferrell's President Business. Morgan Freeman's Vitruvius can be found in another set.

The rest of Series 12 is made up of Calamity Drone, Gail the Construction Worker, Abraham Lincoln, Larry the Barista, Panda Guy, Velma Staplebot, William Shakespeare, Taco Tuesday Guy, "“Where Are My Pants?" Guy, Wiley Fusebot, Scribbe-Face Bad Cop, Mrs. Scratchen-Post and Marsha Queen of the Mermaids. These minifigs and sets based on The Lego Movie will be available in stores in Jan. 2014. The Lego Movie hits theaters on Feb. 7, 2014.
